Liminal Bodies: practicing dis-appearance I
Various locations in Portugal (2019)
Camera by Pavel Tavares
A continuation of the multimedia project Liminal Bodies, 'Practicing dis-appearance II' is a multichannel video installation featuring two short clips that confront the viewer with alien shapes embedded in a natural background (rock and water). These shapes appear to be inhabited by an amorphous living body that produces subtle movements, blurring the lines between subjecthood and objecthood. The performer's body is hidden by a safety blanket that acts as a reflective shield that both allures and repels, activating proxemics of defense and self-care, vicinity and separation, compassion and loathing, witnessing and voyeurism.
